In this case, Lindsey is of 12 years and has a habit of sequent using drugs in amounts which have led to harm to herself and also to her foster mother. A treatment plan has to be administered to her to help her recover from addiction and use of drugs. Diagnosis is the first step of treatment has to be done to her through assessments from the counselor (Segal, Morral, & Stevens, 2014). For drug use to be detected a lab test has to be done on her blood or urine. A drug counselor will use criteria in the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental orders. Individual therapy is an intervention which can be used on Lindsey. Withdrawal therapy will help her withdraw from drugs quickly and safely. The treatment can be outpatient or inpatient depending on how the patient, parent, and counselor agrees. The withdrawal therapy especially when it is impatient is a better method since coordination of counseling to even psychiatrists will help develop ways to cope with drug cravings. Prevention is better than cure in this it tries to entail that preventing is cheaper and accessible than curing. Prevention of substance use for Lindsey is to use other ways than drug abuse to deal with pressure from life (Long, MacPherson, Verona, & Lejuez, 2015). She can also keep a balanced life where she has priority in life than destroying life.
