Poems Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Poems Every individual goes through transformations that are either negative or positive during their lifetime. Changes come as a result of different rationales, and the metamorphosis archetype offers the instruments for interpreting these changes. Various changes occur in Apollo and Daphne, Venus and Adonis, and Jove and Io which are described broadly in this paper. In Apollo and Daphne, the change of heart about love took place in both Daphne and Apollo. Whereas Apollo desired to be married, Daphne goes away. She calls for assistance from her father who turns her into a tree. She became covered with bark, roots deep into the ground and had sprouted leaves. Another change which took place is when Jove's wife suspected his husband of a love affair with Io, and to avoid being embarrassed, he changed Io into a white heifer. To proof Jove's claims, Juno requested for the heifer, and she was given but later stolen back. Lastly, Adonis's mother changes into a myrrh tree after realizing that she has lusted with her father. Adonis, his son, grew up in the forest where he enjoyed hunting and ceased communicating with the world outside. A boar killed Adonis despite being warned by Venus. He was transformed into a flower by Venus The author pointed out from the start that his aim is to come up with something new “My mind carries me to speak of bodies changed into new forms” (I.1–2). The phrase “new forms” (Riley, 2007). Some characters benefited from the changes that took place in these poems. The tale of Apollo and Daphne, for instance, ends with sadness after Zeus changed his daughter into a laurel tree.
