Metaphor, a present and a past in Algeria

Introduction

Through this trip from the north to the south, we have a very clear reading from the perspective of the narrator and the characters, that the north of Algeria refers to the positive, an independent Algeria, which illustrated the protagonists, that theSahara is also a developed place, because it is an oil territory, a place where so many fortunes were earned, but the journey caused only disappointment and disappointment. In fact, places like Ghardaia and Hassi-Messaud represent natural wealth. 

On the contrary, El-Adeb and In-Salah disappointed Mourad and the other characters. In addition, the Administrative Sahara replaced a traditional and cultural Sahara, the narrator reveals the social reality of a rich territory, every time when they traveled south, they discovered the disaster, from there it can be said that it is a trip that was characterized by theIllusion and disappointment. Therefore, the narrator could give us a description of the very detailed Sahara places, he offered us some symbols of globalization and human structure.

Through this, the example of the “Transatlantique” hotel gave, here the narrator compared between the two concepts, wanted to convey his idea that the natural should not be replaced by the administrative desert. Then, it is understood that the authorities aimed to hide the traditional and the ideological.

Then, Algeria represents in this literary text a colonial and historical past, also a future that must work well. In addition, it is observed that the characters could not balance between the two periods. However, thanks to the narrative and the chronotope the reader can know the aspects and events of the Sahara society. When reading this novel, it is seen that the narrator presented a French Algeria through a series of actions, for example, the director of the magazine where Mourad worked, married a French.

conclusion

After a certain time, he married an Algerian. Amalia and other French secondary characters also appears who used French in the Algerian territories without any difficulty. All this representation of this language within Algerian society, played a very important role. So it is very important to note that the characters knew and used French perfectly. This reveals the importance of the language, and the need to use it in the Algerian territory, because it became a communication tool. In general, the narrator mentioned a past and a present of Algeria.
