Integration, segregation and discrimination

Introduction

Without a doubt, the issue of more controversy in today’s world is the immigration of Hispanics to the United States. Today we have the responsibility of understanding or at least trying to understand what is happening around the thousands of undocumented. The literature has already touched this harsh reality of many times in various ways and has had an impact on societies contributing important data to those who have taken the task of reading them.

If, to mention some important novels, we place the first Hispanic immigration novel in the United States written by an emigrant Colombian author Alirio Díaz Guerra and originally published in this country in 1914 in one of the privileged places regarding the issue of immigration, we can give ourselvesAccount of how difficult the search for family stability in the United States has always been and therefore, the meeting with oneself.

This story establishes the structure and formula of many narratives in our language produced in the United States that managethese stories.

Developing

Just arrived from South America, Lucas, the main character becomes a victim of the modern metropolis of the time. Lucas does not face the dream of abundant wealth, but succumbs to the pleasures of the flesh and becomes an unscrupulous predator. From this story, the novel on Hispanic immigration develops as a narrative contrary to the myths of the American dream.

In the plot, the notable descriptions of Díaz Guerra on nightlife and the culture of New York pensions stand out during the period in which 40 % of the inhabitants of that great city were Latin immigrants looking for American dream.

Kanellos and Hernández track the development of the brand new author as an important writer, while studying Lucas Guevara in the very context of Hispanic history and immigration related literature. We all know that immigration is, has been and will be one of the fundamental bases of Latin culture in the United States; It is not just a sociocultural reality, but it is also one of the important determinants of sociology and the vision of the current Latin world and of all time based in this country.

Latin history continues to be woven in the United States and with each new dreams and achievements that place our people in privileged places are born.

On the other hand, Pérez-Soria (2017) indicates that the racial prejudices of Anglos negatively influence migratory norms and policies that could favor our compatriots in this country, highlighting that the aversion to Hispanics, Latinos or as we wantCalling is strongly related to negative, discriminatory and segregas.

While all Latinos have an uncertain future in this country, I believe that Mexicans are the most rejected and besieged by the white people who deny and belittle my compatriots.

Like many other issues that arise in the bases of society and reaches the most remote places of the life of every human being, the theme of the Hispanic immigrant emerges first in the oral culture narrated through personal stories that are often cruel andPunishing;others full of triumph and many achievements; Then the stories develop in the popular expression that transcends borders and is placed on everyone’s lips.

It is evident that the constant and representative issues in the literature and arts of Hispanic groups have undoubtedly been the issues related to migration, and the difficult incorporation of individuals into culture in the United States. On the other hand, following the problems related to this issue, many jokes and teasing have also emerged from which the majority of the representatives of these Latin cultures are subject to unfortunate.

Immigration issues have not only been raw, sad and painful, but often they have gone from cruel and heartbreaking. The journalist, poet and famous German Nicaraguan novelist Bolaños, I dedicate much of his time to journalistic work in the newspaper of Guatemala, of the Salvado and Mexico among many others including New York newspapers. One of his greatest successes is "La Factory", an immigration -based novel, published in Guatemala in 1925 in which the author recounts the bitter experiences of an immigrant who arrives in the United States of an unleashed country and presents a realistic pictureIn the streets of the great city.

The novel is based on the raw experiences and tribulations of the same author in which it includes the cultural impact it suffers and the language barrier. The protagonist’s name is also a mystery, since he can refer to any of us who have gone through something similar, instead he only shows us his identification number as an employee of the factory where he works, which sadly and crudely reinforces the theme ofdehumanization in that great industrialized city and how unimportant the immigrant is with documents or without them, for this country.

Bolaños’s novel shows us through his work a subtle protest against dehumanization, exploitation and discrimination; We can also see between lines, a call to the defense of labor rights, cultural and racial integration and immigrants progress. The harsh reality that our compatriots face today is not something new, it is not something that has suddenly emerged, it is something that has been dragged over many years and it is something that all of us Hispanics must continuestruggling. As in almost every novel that deals with immigration to this country, the return to the country is broadly promoted after discovering that the American dream does not exist, or yes?

For many who arrive in this country in the hope of finding the streets full of dollars, it must be much more difficult to lead with the false promise of the myth, but it should be noted that for all of us the Hispanics that we have managed to reach this country achieving a cultural stability achieving, an integration and an open door for a better future, we realize that if it was worth fighting for ideals, and that if it was worth dreaming to get a better job, studies, good education and forge a better future for ourfamilies. The end of the novel recounts as the protagonist decides to return to his land, perhaps he realized that life in this country is not easy and it is often better to return with his than suffering discrimination and racial exploitation.

Unfortunately, the need for many who have reached this country leads us to experience unsuspected, extreme, hard things and lead us to return to our country of origin, if not, there are many beings that face another of the big problems in this country;Segregation, which seen from my point of view is the same as discrimination or dehumanization mentioned above, but with a different name. The segregation of one of ours hurts us all, it affects us all and it hurts us all.

conclusion

In the investigations on the segregation of immigrants, the greatest emphasis points to the spatial dimension not only in this country, but in many others this fact is also present. Remember that the problem of segregation in school spaces, Mexican children to mention a Hispanic group, were in some locations in special schools to prevent them from getting together with white children

The outrage I feel knowing that many of mine live in separate neighborhoods;White in an area and Hispanics in another area of the city;or that Hispanic children are in classrooms with educational shortcomings while Americans enjoy all good will and comfort in their classrooms, motivates me to raise my voice and continue fighting for equal rights in this country.

Promote Hispanic culture and promote our language are just the principle for our people to have a decent life in the United States. I do not think that the moment in which a Latin is the leader of this wonderful nation is very distant and we can thus achieve a worthy equality of races.
