Student’s Name Professor’s Name Course Number Date A Trip A year ago I attended the Sochi Olympics in Russia. It is during this time that I gave snowboarding a try. All along I had marveled at the idea of standing on a snowboard and gliding through the snow. The opportunity had finally presented itself. On the set day, soon after the Olympics, my friends and I under the guidance of an instructor chose our mountain. We strapped the snowboards on our feet, wore protective gear around our ankles and elbows, and finally the snow goggles. However, before we could surf through the snow, we listened carefully to the instructor give a few tips necessary for the trip we were about to go on. The excitement I had on that cold winter day was overwhelming and even though I was impeccable at sports, I knew beforehand that I would fall severally before I mastered the activity. My anticipation was to one day bust some freestyles and moves, just like the Olympics champions. The first time gliding down the snow felt like a baby taking its first steps; dropping to the ground countless times in the most ungraceful of ways. The snow blowing from below the mountain was hitting hard against my body making it hard for me to maintain balance. Despite being the kind of person who quite quickly picked up any sport, the experience was different. Over time, however, I made progress and learned a few tricks. As I was executing a heel-side turn, it soon became apparent that I had encountered a terrain feature. It was an unexpected turn of events that caused me to panic.
