Ethical Dilemma in Advanced Practice Nursing. A significant objective of nursing is to ensure the delivery of quality care to its patients regardless of cultural values, race, or disability. Nursing aims at restoring individual capacities and hence, their quality of health. However, the second scenario depicts a situation in which those in charge of guaranteeing the restoration of the life of the baby are denying it the chance. Because the child is dependent on the parents for life, it would be ideal if the parents gave consent to allow the operation process to take place and thus save the life of the child. Autonomy is considered as an essential principle in the decision-making process regarding the health status (Parsapoor, Parsapoor, Rezaei & Asghari, 2014). However, when the situation involves minor clients, it implies that the parents have to act in the best interest of those who take care them and delivering care. Family Perception of Issue The family is distraught regarding the condition of the child. A child born with severe birth defects and experiences brain damage may require superior medical attention, which may be costly. Accordingly, it was evident that the father of the child was unhappy about the pregnancy. The wife justified that most probably, the reason for the lack of support is attributed to the fact that it would be expensive to bring up another child. Thus, taking the child through a corrective surgery process may be costly.
