The president and over five million workers constitute the executive branch. The legislature is divided into two houses: the Senate and the House of Representatives. The members of the legislature are drawn from all the fifty states to make a total of 435 members. The legislature is charged with the duty of making laws. The judiciary, on the other hand, comprises the criminal and civil courts and it plays the role of interpreting laws. The three branches of government complement each other in their functions. While the legislature makes laws, the executive implements them (Burnham, 21). The judiciary, on the other hand, is charged with the interpretation of the laws. The judiciary can be considered as the most powerful branch because it ensures that the government is run as per the constitution. The judiciary branch comprises the courts and the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court serves as the main body of the judicial branch. It is the most powerful and the ultimate court in the United States. No court in America can challenge its position. The court plays a crucial role in interpreting the constitution. When there is a conflict between two players, the Supreme Court will have a duty of deciding on the person that is right. The court has a total of nine justices (Scalia, 42). A case within the Supreme Court is decided based on a majority
