They highlight the subjective factor of the quality of life, that is, “the perception that an individual has of his own life” (García, V), this concept is related to the context where he lives, his psychological condition, the relationship that this presents with the social and economic situations of its environment. It is well known that the physical conditions of the elderly usually decrease over time (aging), this event is strongly related to its environment, therefore its relationship with the quality of life is deduced.

According to the International Operation Classification, in charge of the study of the quality of life in the elderly, there are several components that determine it, such as: “its body structure, the activity it generates and its active participation within a social environment” (Fernández). According to the aforementioned, the quality of life depends on the body or health capacity that presents the elderly, intimately related to risk factors, their genetic qualities and the development it presents throughout their life (lifestyle habits).

It is essential that the elderly maintain a systematic physical activity, taking care of social isolation which generates a loss of interest in body care, life habits, cognitive impairment and the feeling of economic ineptitude. The World Health Organization emphasizes physical activity as an essential and determining factor for healthy aging, because it has as its main objective to increase life time. Some of the benefits that physical activity brings are the maintenance of muscle mass, improves cognition, prevention of chronic diseases and social integration.

The concern of the organization for the creation of plans, programs and projects that encourage the practice of physical activity is highlighted thus ensuring regular progress of society to economic and health levels.
