Effective Leadership Activities to improve the work environment

Introduction

Leadership is a set of characteristics and skills that an individual possesses and that help him influence a work team to achieve compliance with the goals, changes and objectives of the institution or organization. In addition, it is the position that a person occupies to distinguish themselves from the rest and have the ability to transform people to make shared decisions for the benefit of the organization or institution.

This analysis shows the activities/strategies that a leader must use to promote an improvement in the organization’s work environment. As a main purpose, the leader must have the ability to recognize that a good work environment is of great benefit to the organization, since the satisfaction, motivation and shared decision -making of human resources will depend not on a good leader, ifNot of the strategies that this uses to obtain it.

Developing

The theories and models presented in the didactic materials of the course help to understand and analyze how to obtain an effective work environment in the organization. In addition, they present the positive and negative sides that these theories and models have obtained, which makes us able to identify favorable aspects to achieve a successful work environment. Betancourt (2017) presents "The perspective of leadership as a tool of change, is a point of view that allows us to see the art of leading people as a tool". With this appointment we can deduce that a true leader is the one who can delegate tasks, responsibilities and decision making in his work team.

For his part, Lewin, in his strength analysis model, gives us the steps that must be followed to carry out activities/strategies that promote an effective change that helps the organization better and, consequently, the work environment. In his model, Lewin presents three stages, these are: defrosting, movement and recon least. As for the defrosting stage, it can be said that it is a process to reduce forces that keep the stagnant organization;Movement is the process to develop professional habits that lead to the new level that the organization wants to get;And the recongesting are the support mechanisms to be able to carry out the organizational change that is proposed.

The changes usually cause discomfort and restlessness in the organization’s staff, since they are new patterns to those who are not accustomed. For this reason, the leader must possess the ability to choose the best exchange rate that motivates and excites the staff so that the negative effect is the smallest and the work environment is not affected. The theory presented by Likert states that "the behavior assumed by subordinates depends directly on administrative behavior and the organizational conditions that they perceive". Therefore, it can be interpreted that staff behavior is related to the environment they perceive in their workplace. Therefore, the communication that this leader maintains with the staff is a decisive factor that influences the personnel and the development of the tasks that want to carry out.

A true leader, as part of his strategy/activity to achieve a positive environment in the organization, must encourage and inspire his work team. Motivation is an extremely important factor that conveys confidence among all work team. In addition to motivation, there must be support, which creates a balance between work and life outside this. Another activity/strategy that should put into practice a good leader is to recognize the efforts and successes of your work team. In this way they will cause them to strive more, they feel participate in decisions and discover their skills and abilities to lead the organization to success. Finally, an excellent activity/strategy that must put a good leader is to promote the professional improvement of your work team. This will contribute to increasing productivity and labor interest in the organization. In addition, that a team member acquires new knowledge serves as inspiration for the other employees and, in turn, to the success of the organization.

These activities/strategies have been used by a number of leaders in organizations. For what they are, reliable activities/strategies to resort to it when it is proposed to make a change in the organization and maintain a good work environment. It is important that leaders serve as a model for staff and promote the assurance that a good teamwork helps to meet the goals and objectives that have been drawn to the success of the organization.

conclusion

In conclusion, with the approaches that have been exposed we can see that directing an organization composed of personnel from different ideologies, knowledge and cultures is not an easy task and requires great responsibility, dedication and effort. The arguments presented are really positive when developing activities/strategies for the improvement of the work environment and, in turn, the objectives and goals of the organization can be achieved. As Owens (2007) he mentions "traditional environments discourage and repress team’s work". Therefore, the effort that the leader projects must be aimed at creating a healthy work environment and promoting communication between his work team.

As for the educational implications that these approaches have, we can indicate that to achieve the success of an educational institution it is necessary to draw as a goal to provide the educational community with an excellent teaching-learning program. This is achieved with a good leader who works hand in hand with teachers, who are the ones who know the needs of their students and can achieve changes that are benefit to achieve a better and effective teaching-learning program in the institution.

A leader should not rest or settle for the triumphs he has achieved in the past, since the needs of institutions or organizations constantly change to internal and external factors, which causes them to require the application of activities/strategies that can provide value.
