Introduction

Ecuadorian cultural heritage leaves us a historical tour of more than 10,000 years which has been showing our identity. This heritage called identity must be protected, since it is what characterizes us as a country, but every time it has been lost, the protection of this heritage must be part of a state policy.

Culture

We can define it as assets of goods whether material and spiritual that are transmitted by a social group that go from generation to generation. They include: language, ways of life, processes, customs, traditions, habits, values, buildings, etc. Culture is the complex of spiritual, material, intellectual and emotional characteristics of a social society or group. It includes, not only the arts and letters, but also the ways of life, the fundamental rights of the human being, the systems of value, traditions and beliefs.

Heritage

It is defined as a set of goods, rights and obligations that are inherited from a group or parents, it is a cultural heritage of a people or state. Heritage has become an element of social, cultural and economic revitalization through which communities and groups are provided with legitimacy.

Heritage as inheritance and culture

It is known that assets are transmitted from generation to generation this is part of a society. Heritage as inheritance is connected and related to the human beings of the past with those of the present so that they benefit from cultural wealth and identity.

Ecuador Cultural Heritage

The cultural policy of ethnic identity and identity formation represent important aspects in the development of the Ecuadorian nation. The identity and cultural reproduction of ethnic identities have maintained a significant space in the cultural practice of Ecuador for the last 500 years. Our country has several declarations of World Heritage, in 1978 UNESCO made the declaration of Quito as the first Cultural Heritage City of Humanity and in that same year the Galapagos Islands are registered within the World Natural Heritage.

Considered as a set of natural elements built by physical and biological formations, they have an exceptional value from the cultural point of view, since it lies unique flora and fauna of that place, as we have the example of the Galapagos Islands, considered heritagecultural and natural as Ecuador, for having both fauna and unique flora in its kind.

The coexistence of cultural heritage with tourism has been a matter of concern for specialists from one and another sector, who, for several decades, in multiple seminars, meetings of experts and academic reflections have tried to find the solution to reconcile the particular interests ofTourism industry investors.

The performance of identities and formal presentation represents the objectified image of cultural heritage. For its part, the Convention on the Protection of the Cultural and Natural World Heritage of UNESCO, carried out in 1972, established the norms that would help the protection of heritage, which in article 1 defines as cultural heritage the monuments, the sets the setsarchitectural and historical interest sites. Since its creation, UNESCO has recognized the importance of cultural matters in the economic, social and environmental development of communities.
