Conventional Sports Medicine, the only solution in case of injuries

Just perform a bad movement when running or doing sports to injure us. The injuries are those that occur during physical exercise, in a sports or recreational practice, and sometimes doing any daily activity. Some occur accidentally and others may be the result of bad practices or on weight load. In some cases, people are hurt by the lack of heating or stretching exercises before performing any activity that requires physical effort.

Conventional medicine is based on scientific knowledge about the human body and uses treatments that have been demonstrated scientifically. Doctors, who acquire in their training, acquire an exhaustive knowledge of the organism, diseases and their treatments. We have knowledge that traumatology is a branch of medicine that is dedicated to the study of the Locomotor Actimonor lesions, and it is a surgical medical specialty. Some of the diseases that traumatology occupies are the fractures and dislocations of bones, ligament, tendons and muscles lesions. The latter being the most common as soon as we talk about everyday injuries. As consistent, when we suffer an injury we must address the traumatologist to examine the violated part.

But many people do not follow this correct proceeding, opting for self-medication or "traditional medicine", which is the one that claims to have the healing effects of medicine but is not supported by tests obtained through the scientific method. It is based on empirical knowledge and have no professional knowledge about the traumas and injuries of the human body. For this reason, this essay is to emphasize the importance of going to a doctor in case of injuries, either to examine, rule out internal damage, give a diagnosis with their respective treatment. By not doing so we would be committing the affected region, causing consequences in the future.

There are several factors that influence the decision to go to popular chiropractics, or colloquially known as "soverers", the most common is misinformation; The lack of knowledge about the possible injuries that occur inside and that despite not showing serious signs on the outside, the damage is present. Other factors are economic and even tradition, since the trade of the "soverer" or "bone" (in some countries) was carried out by our ancestors to cure the ailments, this was transmitted from generation to generation until today. This traditional measurement practice is very popular in Latin countries and is the most used, especially when we suffer an injury that has apparently not involved a visible bone fracture, as it is in the case of dislocations, fissures, sprains, tears, and muscle disters.

While the trade of popular chiropractics consists of "sovereign" to generate heat through massage in the affected limb and thus "mitigate" the discomfort. self-medication is a practice widely used by people as a fast method and what they do not know is that they will only get a momentary relief effect but the problem will persist, and it can cause greater long -term damage. The popularity of these two practices does not measure their viability, that is, it should not be an option when injuring us because they are a palliative effect, which, over time it converts that discomfort into chronic pain because the injury is aggravated. Often people who are desperate because of the injury, are willing to do anything in order to feel better quickly but there are risks when looking for a treatment by someone who has no license, such as the case of a "soverer". An injury can be aggravated and massage can cause more pain or leave it disabled (Heimerich, 2012), so people are urgent to be cautious when they seek to relieve their ailments.

The most common lesions occur in the lower extremities, these are the ones that support the entire weight of our body and allow us to mobilize, on the other hand, the ankle is the most vulnerable joint since it is less protected at the muscle level. For this reason, it is necessary to go to a specialist so that he can examine and determine its severity. And in the case of determining a minimum condition, the doctor has already proven, through the relevant exams, that there is no greater complexity in the affected part. This is why it is important to know that we expose ourselves to risks by not visiting a doctor in time, when the injury is recent. Even when the pain is minimal, it is always appropriate to prevent to be safe.

There are many hidden dangers behind a "silly injury" such as ankle sprains, which are the most common in young people and adults. Anyone can end sprain, either when stumbling with a curb or down a stairs. Not to mention athletes. But due importance is not provided, since when we fall or stumble. Not dealing with this type of injury can cause future consequences, which can alter the shape and frequency of our movements.

Based on research carried out about the scientific study of the human movement by a professor of Quinesiology at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte (Hubbard-Tuerner, El Confidencial, 2016), the impact of long-term ankle sprains was obtained. 40 university students were recruited;20 of them with an instability of chronic ankle, pathology caused by a poorly cured sprain, and 20 without injuries. They were asked to carry a pomometer, an apparatus that counts the number of steps, for a week. It was obtained as a result that students who had chronic instability moved much less than healthy students.

These results reinforced the experiments proven in a group of mice, where the researchers caused them sprains of different degree. Although they let the lesion be cured letting the mice rest enough time, the sequelae of the sprain accompanied them for life. Since in their adulthood, these mice were less active and slower. The ankle is the base of the body, everything starts with ankle. Do not ignore a sprain (Hubbard-Tuerner, El Confidencial, 2016)

After a twist, sometimes there is a residual pain and we think it will happen to us. And yes, it passes, but because we change the tread not because we have cured it (Santos, 2016). The sprain stop hurting because we do not use the injured ligament, but by changing the way of stepping can trigger other problems. Badly cured injuries are the ones that cause the most problems, for this reason, when attending the doctor or physiotherapist it is not accidental that he asked us about our previous injuries.

Thanks to the fact that medicine is changing, today we have radiographs, to observe if there is any damage at the bone level, with immobilizers such as plaster, splints, headboards, according to the treatment to be applied. There is also the specialty of physical therapy that works to reduce pain and help the patient resume their daily activities. As consistent, the traumatologist examines and gives a diagnosis, applies due treatment and then, it is advisable to attend the physiotherapist so that through rehabilitation we obtain a complete recovery of the affected area. These two specialties can be linked. "They are not exclusive, both can be used" Manifesta (Sanz, 2019), director of the FISED Physiotherapy Clinic in Madrid.

When we suffer some injury, either running, jumping or practicing some sport, it is advisable. In the case of having an ice bag at hand, you can put it on top to avoid inflammation. But the most important thing is to go to the doctor to start treating her as soon as possible. He will examine the area and by exams, if necessary, he will rule out internal injuries, and provide a diagnosis together with the proper treatment. To have an optimal recovery, it is recommended to attend rehabilitation, it will help improve the mobility of the affected party.

In conclusion, we must not ignore the injuries, because in our body when something is bad produces pain, it is its way of communicating what is affecting it. Nor should you look. Therefore, they will not be able to apply the solution to the real damage.
