Cellular apoptosis, antitumoral and anticancer effect

Introduction

Ganoderma lucidum is a fungus (mushroom) that belongs to the family of macromycetes fungi, named for its large size. It is a delicate fungus whose color varies from white to black with yellow, golden, blue and violet shades, grows in warm latitudes, in trunks of dead or damaged trees. This fungus has been used for centuries by oriental cultures such as food and medicine to promote longevity and treatment of various diseases. At present, its popularity has not diminished, since its active compounds have been studied highlighting among them the triterpenoids and polysaccharides for their antitumor, anti -inflammatory qualities, promoters of the immune system, cardiovascular and brain protectors, in addition to effects on nervous system diseases. However, it is of great interest to be able to corroborate with updated scientific evidence such.

Objective of the review

Present updated information on the anti -cancer, antitumoral effect and on the cellular apoptosis of the fungus ganoderma lucidum

Methodology

Systematic review in English and Spanish in bibliographic database (Pub-Med/Medline, Proquest, Dialnet Plus, Scientedirect, Web of Science and Google Schoolar) were defined inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Results

XX studies were included that met the inclusion criteria;Articles in English;between 20xx and 2019;that will include the term “Ganoderma lucidum” where its anti -cancer, antitumor and its effect on cell apoptosis will be demonstrated.

Polysaccharides extracted from the ganoderma lucidum exert anti -cancer effects on tumor therapies by improving the immune system. Antiviral capacity, immunomodulation, protective effects of free radicals and the reduction of cell damage by radiation is attributed to triterpenes and polysaccharides. Due to its effectiveness, it has been used in multiple models in vitro and in vivo due to its anti -proliferative and inhibitory efficacy for the growth of cancer cells in breast cancer.

In other studies, the inducting activity of apoptosis and anticancer of the Total Triterpenes of Ganoderma lucidum was evaluated. In humans with cancer (breast adenocarcinoma) a pro-apopotic effect was concluded such as the ability to reduce tumor cytotoxicity. In animals, under the same line of investigation, the reduction of the incidence of the breast tumor and the reduction of the incidence of skin papilloma were observed the topical application of total triterpenes of (5 mg, 10 mg and 20 mg)that triterpenes reduce the average number of tumors per animal in addition to extending the tumor latency period.

The anticancer potential of total triterpenes, such as cytotoxicity are a key element for the development of a preventive chemotherapy agent of natural and safe origin.

conclusion

In the different studies the anti -cancer capacity of the fungus ganoderma lucidum modulated by its antitumoral and pro apopototic fungus was concluded. Since it contains cytotoxic biological compounds that selectively inhibit the viability of cancer cells, without affecting the viability of non -cancerous cells, decreasing the expression of responsible genes in the survival and proliferation of cancer cells.
